Observed by: Dave

I will begin my lesson by having the students fill out Worksheet 2 from my mini-lesson. This will happen before any discussion. The students will then be invited to come to the rug for an open forum about their background knowledge of strangers in general I will also introduce two tersms: T.M.I. and Facebook, and see how many people are aware of these terms, and how many of the kids use facebook. I will also introudce the learning targets. I will then go into my lesson explaining to them the dangers of giving out personal information over the interent, and especially to strangers, even if you identify them as a "FRIEND." I will also tie in the bullying aspect since we just had a few lesons on cyber bullying. I have soem clips I will be showing them about the topic. This will be followed by another open forum to discuss what they have learned. They will then work in partners to create a poster to tell other students about beign safe ont he interent. Each group will briefly present their poster. The lesson will end with the students doing Worksheet 2 again, and hopefully they are aware of when they should share, and when they should not.

REFLECTION
I really enjoyed teaching my lesson. I think it was relevant and engaging to the kids. My highlights are that I was able to teach my lesson and do everything intended in my lesson plan in about an hour. Originallly, I was thinking to do two sessions over two weeks, but one session was sufficient. I got great interaction from the kids with their backgound knowledge of strangers and virtual strangers. They also gave great observations from teh video I used. They actually watchecd it tiwce by their request, adn asked if we had more time at the end to watch it again. So I was glad that my choice of media was engaging, as well as entertaining. I think they got the message, and are aware that they have the choice of what and when they should share.

My lowlight is that I would of chosen different kids. I chose my group of 11 studetns based on need, and prior experience with Facebook. I did a survey to gather some inforamtion, and based my group on that. I knew there were some behaviro issues in taht group, but I didn't want to be byass, I wanted to be helpful. However, as the lesson went on, I wihed that I would of chosen a few different students. However, as a teacher, you don't alwasy get a pick of who your students are, adn have to deal with them regardless.
